Jimmy Crane, 79, of Meridian, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home.

Jimmy worked hard for those he loved by doing what he loved. At an early age, he was a champion fiddle player with The Stonewall Hillbilly Trio, who toured over 38 states with the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. He eventually played Madison Square Garden in New York City at the age of 11. He continued his music career in Meridian with the band Danny and the Dudes, and later started Crane and Company with his children and family friends. Jimmy worked at WTOK-TV for 26 years as studio director, as well as General Supply for 25 years. Within the community, he enjoyed his role as “Dusty Dad” and both coach and commissioner of Little League baseball. Jimmy was a longtime member of E.J. Knox-King Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 130. He served in the US Army, and later retired from the Air National Guard after over 20 years of service. He served as music director for many area churches, including Oakland Heights, Russell, and Enterprise Baptist churches.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrna Faulkner Crane; three children, Jimbo Crane, and wife Donna, Jill Crane Aycock, and husband Earl, and Jay Crane, and wife Holly; six grandchildren, Abby Crane Moon, and husband Jonathan, Regan Aycock Fargason, and husband Baxter, Anna Aycock Mims, and husband John Morgan, Alexa Crane, Jay Crane II, and wife Jazmine, and Matthew Crane; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Leola Jones and Theola Grayson; brother, Donnie Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Barrett Crane; his mother, Lucille Moore; brothers, Milo and Tommy Crane; and granddaughter, Jana Ashley Crane.

Pallbearers will be Jay Crane II, Matthew Crane, Mark Eubanks Jr., Jonathan Moon, Baxter Fargason, and John Morgan Mims.
