Cheryl was born in New Orleans to Hewette and Laverne Mcmillan on November 1st, 1953. She graduated from Crescent City High School in New Orleans and attended William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. She married Robert Monsour, moved to Meridian and had two daughters, Melissa and Kayla. She had many passions including being a La Leche League Leader, a sign language interpreter, exercising, loving her pets, and crafting works of art. Her greatest passion was being a stay at home mom and an incredible Ce-ce to her grandchildren. Cheryl married Butch Gray in 1998 and was ready to spend a life full of adventure with him until dementia caused by Alzheimer disease took Cheryl’s memory away too soon.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her Father Hewette L. Mcmillan and niece Rachell Mcmillan.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband Butch Gray; daughters Melissa Monsour Atkins and husband Brad, and Kayla Monsour Brown and husband Gene; step children Bo Gray and wife Martha, and Mandi Gray Hamrick and husband Will; grandchildren Madison Atkins, Collin Atkins, John Cole Atkins, Trey Mills, Brennan Mills, and Kade Brown; step grandchildren Bailey Dorman, Addie Beth Gray, and Marshal Gray; mother Laverne McMillan; brother Jimmy McMillan; sister-in-law Denise McMillan; niece Jolynn Moreau and husband Herman; and nephew Chad McMillan.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Mcmillan, Brad Atkins, Gene Brown, Collin Atkins and Trey Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family of Cheryl wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Brookdale Memory Care facility and all the Resident Assistants and nurses who cared for Cheryl in her final days.

Cheryl was my best friend for many, many years when Melissa and Kayla Rose were little. We went to church together, broke bread together, and enjoyed life together. Cheryl loved the Lord. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife, to Butch. Butch, you were the most faithful husband and friend to Cheryl. God Bless you for your faithfulness to her.
I am praying for you and the girls.
