On Sunday morning, November 24,2019, God called home one of his sweetest angels on earth, Betty Mae Harmon Graham Chisolm at the age of 92. She was born July 8,1927 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Ernest and Nellie Mae Rice Harmon. The youngest of their six children, she had four brothers: Albert, Ernest, Don and Jack Harmon, and one sister Florine D. Harmon.
The family made many moves during her young life-from Kansas to Missouri, and then to Arkansas. They found their way to Meridian, Mississippi where she met and married John W. Graham in December 1945. She and John had three children: Mary Nelclair Graham Thomas (Stanley), Vance Harmon Graham (Marjorie), and Alice Elizabeth Graham Smith (Benny Ralph). John died in January 1966. Seven years later Betty met and married Cecil Chisolm. She became a loving stepmother to Cecil's four children-Pat Chisolm Barfield (Johnny), Cliff Chisolm (Debby), Dale Chisolm Burcham (Danny), and Gale Chisolm Pigott (Rick). Betty took pride in being called "Mama Betty" by her four stepchildren, seven grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a growing list of great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Chisolm was preceded in death by her husbands, John W. Graham and Cecil Chisolm, parents, siblings, daughter, Alice Elizabeth Smith, and stepson, Cliff Chisolm.
She was a Christian who exemplified the love of Christ by serving as an outstanding caregiver, bringing comfort, peace, and encouragement to many people. May the Lord grant her peace and rest as a result of her faithful dedication to him in serving others.
Mom, Mother, Mama Betty-We all love you and will miss you.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 29,2019, at James F. Webb Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00am with Rev. Rick Pigott officiating. Interment will be at Meridian Memorial Park.
