A private graveside service will be held for Mr. Franklin “Frank” V. Gibson Jr.

Mr. Gibson Jr., 79, of Meridian, passed away on April 4, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.

Frank was born in Meridian to Franklin V. Gibson Sr. and Virgie McCall Gibson on October 20, 1940. He graduated from Suqualena High School. He married Bobbie Williams on August 30, 1960, in Duffee, MS. He worked as a paper maker for a combined 38 years for American Can Paper Company in Pennington, AL and Potlatch Corporation in McGehee, AR. He served in the Marine Reserves as a young man and received awards for sharp shooting. He was a Christian and attended Antioch Christian Church in Hickory, MS.

Frank was much beloved by his family and influenced the lives of many people young and old. He coached little league teams of his sons’ and attended many Christians Summer Camps as a counselor/dorm dad. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years and would fill the pulpit when called upon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson, Sr. and his sister, Betty Gibson.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bobbie Gibson; children, Tonia Hatcher (Mike), Robert Gibson (Jane), Alan Gibson (MaShelle); brothers, Marvin Gibson (Bobbie) and Dan Gibson (Faye); sister, Deloris Gurganious (Tony); grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa, Michael Hatcher (Kayla), Sheridan Mitchell (Jeffrey), Robby Gibson, Caleb Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Timothy Gibson, Tiphannie McKinion (Eric), Tarra Hurst (Colton), Tabitha Lynch (Ryan), and Nathan Gibson (Caroline); and grandchildren, Gabriel Hatcher, Maverick Hatcher, Malachi Hatcher, Charlotte Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Titus McKinion, Verity McKinion, Elias Hurst, Walker Lynch and Rylan Lynch; he was also a surrogate grandfather to Christelle Haddox, Brandy Williams, and Charity Glenn.

In lieu of Flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Sunbelt Christian Youth Ranch, 8782 Old HWY 80, Lake, MS 39092.

Frank family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Laura Alexander and her nurses, Logan, Darla, and Tracy.
