Howard Beeland Jr.

Services for Mr. Howard Beeland Jr. will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home with Bro. Malcom Lewis and Bro. Danny Lanier officiating.  Burial will follow at Meridian Memorial Park.

Mr. Beeland, 82, of Meridian, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Specialty Hospital of Meridian.

Howard worked for the city of Meridian Parks and Recreation Department, where he refereed part time. He was also a referee with the Meridian Public School System for 40 plus years, mostly officiating football and basketball games. He made many friends during this time, and even had his own “crew” of fellow referees that he usually worked with. He was also known for his sense of humor and was always laughing. However, the most important thing to him was spending time with his family, and he always looked forward to their annual trip to the beach in July. He was a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Beeland; daughters, Jennifer Beeland Ezell and Suzanne Beeland; granddaughter, Chrisalyn Beeland; special cousin Ruth Morgan (Sonny) and their daughter Sharon; and very special friend and referee buddy of many years, Charles Naylor (Tookum).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Beeland Sr. and Evelyn.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Meridian Community College Foundation.
