Popout Notice

James Vernon Ash

March 20, 1974 ~ August 23, 2020 (age 46)

Services for James Ash will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020, with remembrance time starting at 3:00 p.m. and the memorial service starting at 3:30 p.m., at James F. Webb Funeral Home, with Bro. Kenneth Owens officiating.

James was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed spending time wading creeks and wandering the woods looking for Native American artifacts.  He collected many arrowheads and artifacts through his years of looking.  He also loved spending time with his animals.  He raised goats for their milk, chickens for their eggs, and his dogs for their love.  He was a naturalist, doing research and finding natural supplements for health and well being. He had gotten into weight lifting in his earlier years and still held the love for "working out".  He was always enjoying spending time with his friends and co-workers, with his little chuckle and smile adding enjoyment to the group.  He loved to talk politics and always looked for the "conspiracy" when talking about the government, which made the conversations really lively if you knew how to push his buttons.  Was he a saint?  No. But he was a seriously loyal friend and was willing to do all he could to help his friends.

James was a faithful employee of James F. Webb Funeral Home in Meridian, where he helped hundreds of grieving families with his skills in the preparation room.  He was an early riser so he was always the first to get to work, getting everything ready for the start of the day.  He could not abide just standing around when there was something to be done and had no problem letting you know if he thought you were doing that.

There will be a huge hole where he once stood.  As a son, a brother, a dad, a man, a friend, and an employee, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Janice Ash; Two brothers, John Ash and Brian Ash; Wife, Summer Overby Ash; Children, Elijah Ash, Ainsley Ash, and Gavin Ash; by his mother and father in law, Tammy and Chuck Overby; by nieces and nephews; and by a multitude of friends.

"Until we meet on the other side, so long"
