Mrs. Stewart, 91, of Meridian, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Friday, May 28, 2021, at her residence.

Pearly May, commonly known as Sister Pearly May, dedicated her life to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Becoming an ordained Pentecostal Holiness preacher on August 11, 1967, she ministered to numerous people sharing the love of God with all of those she met. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who taught her children and grandchildren the value of burying the Word of God deep into their hearts and lives. She taught them how to stand firm in Jesus Christ through faith. Everyone she met would be asked, “Do you know where you will spend eternity?” because she desired that no one leave this world without having sealed their salvation in the blood of Jesus. Being the Prayer Warrior she was, she spent a great deal of time on her knees praying for those she loved. Many had the privilege of hearing her sermons while listening to her radio programs for over a span of 50 years. She preached at various tent revivals, churches, and many retail aisles. Her greatest passion was sharing Jesus and serving Him with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She believed in putting on the whole Armor of God.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. There will never again be anyone like Sister Pearly May. She was truly anointed by God; many she prayed over received healing, and those she counseled found peace and resolution in Christ. Those who love her celebrate her life and cherish the knowledge that she is now and will forevermore be sitting at the feet of Jesus.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Stewart Jr. (Rhonda), Bill Stewart (Shirley), Joey Stewart (Helen), Judy Williams (Mike), Shirley Green, Sheila Bennett (Danny), and Sharon Emig (Eric); grandchildren, Trish Robertson, Tammy Pittman (Ray), Misty Morris, Stacie Frey, Shawn Stewart (Katherine), Steven Stewart (Nicole), Jeremy Stewart (Joy), Marcus Stewart (Cynthia), Summer Revels (Chris), Johnathan Williams, Jessica Barrett (David), Heather Cleveland (Tim), Stephanie Maynard (Jason), Chelsea Jolly (Blake), Devon Bland (Robbie), Erin Emig, Andrew Emig, and Kyler Emig; 30 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Stewart Sr.; parents, Douglas and Fannie Gaunt; and brother, James Gaunt.
