Obituary

Services for Rev. Dr. Charles “Chuck” William Engelbrecht Sr. will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021, 5:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home with Bro. Derrick Wilson officiating.

Chuck, 77, of Meridian, passed away February 28, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS.

Chuck was the son of William and Harriet Engelbrecht was born on August 14, 1943 in Sacramento, CA.

As a young man, he attended the Billy Graham Crusade which directed his life to follow his faith to missionary work in Belize and Macedonia. He also served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, Chaplain for the VA and hospice, and as the president of the MS Chaplain Association.

He attended Christian Life School Theology for his Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministry. He also attended Southern Illinois University of Carbondale for his B.S. Industrial Technology and State Technical Institute of Memphis for his A.S. Middle Management Technology.

On December 24, 1987, Charles united in marriage to Berniece Latham. They were parents of four children.

Chuck was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1982, where he retired as a E-7 Chief Petty Officer. He served his military community with volunteer services in the VFW, DAV, MOAA, American Legion and Mississippi State Guard as a Colonel and looked after his community as a traffic light Technician for Meridian.

Chucks enormous faith influenced people far and wide. He was loved and looked upon by all who knew him. No one was ever a stranger.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, Berniece K. Engelbrecht of Meridian, MS; children, Charles W. Engelbrecht Jr. and wife Tanya of Orange Park, FL and Donna M. Engelbrecht of Jacksonville Beach, FL; stepchildren, Bruce A. Latham and wife Karine of Prior Lake, MN, and Gregg E. Latham of Oelwein, IA; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Caroline J. Dudley of Conway, SC; niece Diane J. Major; and nephew, Kenneth A. Dudley.

He is preceded in death by his father William and mother Harriet.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
